Syria urges UN to take measures against Israeli airstrikes on Damascus targets http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/world/2014-12/08/c_133838558.htm DAMASCUS, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) — The Syrian foreign ministry urged the UN to take measures against Israel for its airstrikes against two Syrian positions earlier on Sunday, according to the state news agency SANA. “Syria calls for imposing deterrent measures against Israel which didn’t hide its pro-terrorism policies and its premeditated intentions against Syria,” the ministry said in a letter to the UN. The letter was made public just hours after Israeli war jets struck two Syrian positions in the capital Damascus, including a military post close… Read more »

Why doesn’t the SAAF just go and bomb them back? Seems pretty simple, a punch for a punch. Just go bomb their airport, or some power plants, just do something about it.

And start a major war with Israel when Syria has its plate so full, do not think is a wise move. But I would not worry that the several aggressions by Israel won’t be answered in time. As the old saying says….vengeance is better served cold. If I lived in Israel I would be worried to have a government that does not think on their population but only to its political game to stay in power forever.

hahahaha Jeffrey…that was funny. On the real side, Syria retaliates in more damaging ways by supporting Hizballah. Much better than a few bombs here and there, which will certainly lead to Syria getting flattened.

That probably is exactly what they want. By shifting attention to the zionist apartheid state the SAA gets distracted from the real job and that is killing rats

Jeffrey, i really need to say this, i have studied the isralei tactics for a long time, they only attack when they are ready to go, all the wars except for the 72 war was provoked by them and they won all of them for the simple reason america is using all it has to guide them, you do NOT retaliate like they want you to, you sit it out and wait, patience has it’s rewards and history will record these vile actions by the israelis.

pffff nothing but meere procedure,,they will just stuff it with the rest of un opened packs of letter from syria to the UN ,,the only way to get there attention and get Ban Ki Monkey off his ass once again urging both sides,,blah blah blah was for syria to lauch a few at gay aviv int airport or at the very least shoot down the two donkeys and use them as braganing chips ,,that would have been a great outcome,,too late now

Russia deputy FM in Syria to solve crisis http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/europe/europe/2014-12/10/c_133845820.htm DAMASCUS, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov arrived here on Wednesday to find a political solution to Syria’s protracted crisis, a source told Xinhua. Ahead of his arrival, Bogdanov also met with a number of Syrian opposition figures on a Russian initiative to hold a dialogue in Moscow between the Syrian leadership and opposition forces after the Geneva peace talks earlier this year failed. The proposed Moscow dialogue will include official Syrian delegates and opposition figures from inside and outside Syria, mainly the drifting former head of… Read more »

Major oil spill in Israel bigger than expected http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/world/2014-12/09/c_133840963.htm JERUSALEM, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) — An Israeli pipeline company, whose pipeline was breached last week, admitted that the oil spill was at least three times larger than previously reported, the Environmental Protection Ministry said on Monday. A ministry statement said new figures by the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Company (EAPC) showed that the actual amount of oil that escaped the pipeline was about five million liters. “The company initially reported a leak of between one million and 1.5 million liters,” the ministry said, adding that “the ministry was skeptical about the (original) figures… Read more »

Kerry tells lawmakers not to ban use of ground force against IS http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/world/2014-12/10/c_133843607.htm WASHINGTON, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry appealed to lawmakers on Tuesday not to rule out the use of American ground force in a new war authorization against the Islamic State (IS). U.S. President Barack Obama has repeatedly said he would not send American military forces into ground combat operations against IS. “It doesn’t mean that we should preemptively bind the hands of the commander in chief or our commanders in the field in responding to scenarios and contingencies that are impossible to… Read more »

Have to say that the fight in Al-Shaykh-Miskeen is way tougher than I originally thought it would be after the SAA mobilized key forces there, it tells me few things by now : 1) This is a fight to death, like break it and lose it for rats in Daraa, critical for holding into the other towns. I have to say that though Al-Shaykh-Miskeen sits in the old Damascus-Daraa road and it is a cross road to Nawa and Sweida, I failed to understand the real strategic value beyond being a key cross road, no major hills, strong fortifications etc…… Read more »

Canthama: There should be a critical radar installation site nearby, and Brigade 82 base. Wikimaps shows both to be in SAA hands, but I don’t know that to be fact. In ’12 there was, reportedly, a huge explosion in the radar site, followed by intense close combat between SAA and some motley rats, which resulted in the installation being taken. As of 22 November, ’14, the installation site returned to SAA control. If the installation can be restored to service that would probably be a good thing; my thought is that the installation probably gave SAA/SAAF a good look right… Read more »

China Focus: China concerned about U.S. Senate torture report http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/china/2014-12/10/c_133845702.htm BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) — Chinese media coverage of a much-anticipated report released by the United States Senate, on the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) torture of terrorists suspects after the Sept. 11 attacks, gripped the nation on Wednesday. Ironically, the report, which included a list of the ten major interrogation techniques used by the CIA, was released on the eve of Dec. 10, Human Rights Day — the day the world honors the United Nations’ (UN) Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). State television China Central Television (CCTV) covered the… Read more »

As we are seeing throught the word, the same reaction all over….wasn’t the US the defender of moral and ethics throught out the world ? Very bad publicity, I bet the brand USA has lost few billions of Dollars in its value yesterday.
This recent event with the torture partial disclosure report by the CIA is just one more step toward the end of this era in this planet, a lot of other countries will still be hurt with it, including many in EU and middle east.

Who was it that taught the CIA how to interrogate prisoners? Well it was the Syrian secret police , that’s who. Imagine that. http://content.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1546119,00.html The Assad regime has been known to dabble in Al Quaeda organizational creations, themselves. This time however, it appears that the creation, has turned on its creator. This is a risk that is inherent in this type of reverse psychological control of the slaves. http://www.businessinsider.com/assad-helped-build-al-qaeda-in-syria-2014-1 The Assad family has been doing this now for over 40 years. What used to work pretty good more or less, now , not so much. After almost 4 years of… Read more »

Rebel forces are inside the wire at Deir Ez-Zour military airport . I would suspect that means its only a matter of time before it falls. The barracks area fell yesterday and with it, opposition forces gained large amounts of weapons and ammunition.

Here we see a hell cannon shot, that falls exactly where the rebels wanted it. amazing shot with that propane canister. scratch one SAA firing position.

the rebels do not have the backing of the people anonymous. which means they can never win. they travel by way of tunnel or hide in civilian areas. this is not the tactics of someone in control of the situation. plus syria has the full backing of russia, china and iran. i would give up any ambitions of victory if i was a rebel supporter. it ain’t going to happen

After four years of war Syria should start to use google and search for “HESCO”. I wonder (after 200-300 videos of attacks on outposts) why syria didn´t use this cheap and very helpfull things to secutre their bases and outposts. What do you think about the fact that the USA use this gear in Afghanistan, and not a single base gets overrun there (OK, they leave some of their outposts later, but there are no behading videos after the snackbarians stormed the outposts) Think about it, it´s cheap, easy to build and you fill this cages with earth and stones… Read more »

AMERICANS ,IF YOU KNOW,MUST BE VERY PROUD BUT YOU PROBABLY ARE NOT AWARE. If they had cut this off or never started how many lives would have saved.Americas TAX money at work. This is a paste from an article link from yesterday’s blog. The United States has stopped paying most of the pro-western rebels fighting in northern Syria and has suspended the delivery of arms to them, rebel commanders told McClatchy Tuesday. On Tuesday, he reported later, a State Department representative informed him that non-lethal – food and medical supplies, primarily – would continue, but not pay for individual fighters.… Read more »

“”The ISIL executed its former governor in Mosul, Moamar Touhleh, on charges of creating rift among ISIL members through provocative moves aimed at creating conflicts between local and foreign terrorists,” the source said…. ISIL court has issued rulings for the execution of 9 ISIL members on charges of trying to escape the war.” (farsnews)

Zips, yes they as accurate as one can be, Ziad’s son, Leith, does them, you can check at his site almasdarnews.com. This battle has seen ups and down, the SAA once controlled more than half of the city to lose it and a bunch of ground when retreated from Nawa city, then it got back and took firing control of the road from sheikh Miskhen to Nawa and is not in control of the northen and western art of the city. The battle is fierce, with hundreds if not thousands of casualties, KIA and WIA, so far, there is a… Read more »
