THE BATTLE FOR PALMYRA: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED ACCORDING TO OUR MILITARY SOURCES

ميداني

HOMS:

Tadmur (Palmyra):  Even nominally friendly sites like NSNBC are misreporting events in this historically important town in the far east of Homs Governorate.   Many sites are simply making the fatuous statement that the entire city of Palmyra has been overrun by ISIS fanatics and that includes Alalam and Al-Mayaadeen.  Interesting to note that neither news source has anyone on the ground there to report directly.

Two days ago, the SAA and militias supported by local tribesmen and the ubiquitous Syrian Air Force clobbered ISIS destroying whole convoys of trucks and armored pickups armed with anti-aircraft guns.  By the SAA’s reckoning, that was the end of the assault on the town.  We reported confidently that the brunt of the ISIS assault was crushed by the combination of forces mentioned in the foregoing.

The night of May 20, 2015 saw a unique operation by, what is claimed to be,  “thousands” of foot soldiers crowding into the northern neighborhoods of this small city.   With stealth, they managed to establish a salient in the north which would eventually secure the arrival of hundreds more of the terrorist vermin.  It was this morning when the battle for the center of the city began.  Arrayed against the ISIS rodents are the NDC, Ba’ath Party militias and local fighters committed to keeping Saudi-style nihilism out of their lives.  Interesting, too, is that the terrorists did not use a suicide truck bomber to open a corridor into the town.

The mistake was to assume that the ISIS threat was gone and to withdraw many troops from the city in order to protect other sites, especially the newly recovered gas and oil stations.  This left the town largely unprotected.  In addition to this, our military sources state that the bulk of the ISIS rodents were remnants of defeated units at the Al-Shaa’er Mountain area where many gas fields are located.

Friendly sites kept repeating that Palmyra was “strategically” important.  Every site in Syria is reported as “strategically important” and its becoming nauseating.  Palmyra is not important militarily unless you are a terrorism supporter, in which case, every hamlet becomes a major site for blocking this or that.  It happens to be important strictly from the standpoint that it contains a tourism-rich Roman city considered a gem of architectural splendor in the desert.

All inhabitants of the town have been evacuated, just like Idlib.  The rats won’t have anyone to behead here unless they can capture a soldier or militiaman.

The SAA has redeployed forces to all entrances to the town.  All, I repeat “all”, corridors into the city are under the control of the SAA.  SAA artillery and SAAF sorties are destroying whole nests of ISIS rats – a process made even easier by the evacuation of citizens.  The SAA has already retaken the two checkpoints at the Museum and the Khattaab Quarter.  There is an on-going pitched battle now around the National Security Building.  The SAA has recovered control over the Military Security Headquarters and all Western Hills including the Desert Falcons Branch HQ and the Citadel.

As I write, I am informing NSNBC, that there is a very violent battle going on at the city center.  The Palmyra ruins remain in the hands of the Syrian Army.

This is the best news I can bring you at the present time.  I will continue to update as more Intel comes in.

We got to be careful about traitors within the top echelon of the SAA, far fetched, remember Ashraf Marwan, Abdel Nasser son-inlaw a senior mossad figure, caused thousands of Syrians, Egyptians to die in the 1972 war.

Since when are “single towns” important.
The Russians withdrew from Sebastopol.
And took it back later in the war.
This is just psyops bring the capture of rocks or a hay stack as a victory.
Those rocks at Palmyra are billions of years old, because they came out of a mountain that is billion of years old.
Just carve new rocks. And the tourists in 100 years from today wont see a difference.
If it is that important.

It is all fast victories, only for their psyops.
It has no military value.
It is like they try to score a victory on the internet, but not in Syria.

Ziad,

I’m not sure how you can say Palmyra only has value because of its ruins. It was the major town on the way to Deir ez-Zor from Damascus on the only highway not controlled by ISIS.

Also, I am not convinced about how “1000 foot soldiers” got through unnoticed.

I hope you’re right about the long-term prospects for the jihadists in Palmyra but I find this entire situation disconcerting. After all, it is desert terrain and it should be impossible to disguise large movements of soldiers in it!

Isil could have been passed air-surveillance information, with info on weakest defended areas and routes. They also regularly use drones themselves. ISIS had been storming villages and towns in the dessert for months, massacring people in Al-Mubujah, Suknah, and recent attacks at Deir Ez Zur. T4 base is 15 minutes away by aircraft. It is hard to believe that SAA could coordinate effective air-strikes with SaaF. As SAA had initially abandoned Al-Amriyah with most of civilians, SaaF could have been easily instructed to strike everything that moves in Al-Amriyah and north and north east of it, where enemy was amassing… Read more »

Happy news, there was something strange at leaving an entire city, while having militias and active popular support, and before a major blow to ISIS attack. I was angered at thinking of the beauty of Palmyra being blowed by this orcish filth. Good work and regards from Uruguay.

How do “thousands” of foot soldiers “sneak” into a relatively small town with “stealth”? I imagine that 1,000 Saudi-looking rodents with long beards and smelling like cow ass would stick out like a soar thumb. I’m not saying that it didn’t happen, but this wreaks of treason in the ranks or sheer dereliction of duty on the part of the defenders. Anyway, given that “all” the roads leading into and out of Tadmur are under SAA or friendly forces control, starving and picking off the fanatic scum should be pretty easy. This reflects very poorly on Syrian intelligence. Also, the Amnesty program seems to do nothing but encourage people helping militants, either for material gain, safety or ideological reasons. It is obvious that militants have been instructed how to adjust their tactics to be more effective against SAA type of defenses. It is now up to SAA and authorities to adjust their own tactics. Things that come to mind for authorities and security to focus on: – Maximize efforts to acquire and use of modern weapons especially ISR means. This will be a huge morale boost, plus it is the most… Read more »

Ziad, you are incorrigible and you make me sad. You tell us fairy tales. This did not bother me too much, but it becomes increasingly that difficult for me to take you seriously. Falling From Palmyra is total, including the ruins. The armed Syrian never killed 5000 ISIS fighters during the first 5 days, you invented this figure. The first attack was intended to test the defenses of the SAA. The Syrian army did not believe in an offensive on Palmyra. That’s why there were few defenders. See it this way. Isis works in emirates, this means there is territorial jurisdiction for the emirs, or field commanders. This means that each commander is independent to strike where ever he likes. This doens’t means there is no general coordination, but there is freedom to act to some extent degree. It is up to Journalists to EXPOSE politicians and corporations for their crimes, But instead, we have men like ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos who are former talking heads for former sitting Presidents – and who still quietly donate massive sums of money to political families to curry favor and to remain in the “club”.… Read more »

He targets a fringe audience with his articles. People that will not believe negative news no matter what. They will deny everything until the day Damascus itself falls. Think of Gaddafi supporters claiming gunfire in Tripoli center was “celebratory” when the NTC was taking control of the city. Dealing with a similar stock of people here.

Aljazeera FAKED the Green Square Celebration in Libya
Fake footage suggests event was another psychological operation like the toppling of the Saddam statue NATO’s haste to convince Libyans and the watching world that Colonel Gaddafi’s regime had collapsed even as fighting still raged seemingly forced their hand in staging the Green Square “celebration” that was endlessly broadcast by the establishment media to lend the rebel siege on Tripoli a sense of legitimacy. In fact, what we probably witnessed was a repeat of the Firdos Square farce, the infamous 2003 toppling of a Saddam Hussein statue in Baghdad that was scripted and staged by the Pentagon for mass TV… Read more »

Well said Al. You have exposed the fatuous nature of the twits who come here having bought into the manufactured fairy tales dreamed up by Abdul-Rahman in Coventry, Elliot Higgins in his council flat MI6 outlet, and retailed by the Khazar-controlled press. Snowed by the tsunami of spin, these wimps knuckle under, and buy the fables of a desperate pack of reptiles. Ziad’s sources are closer, in-country, and have a better record. Those who have been coming here a few years will know this. Do not confuse the real mentat’s New Journalism with propaganda or with hyperbole. Ranters fluttering across… Read more »

PS, Al. ”…this wouldn’t be the first time that scenes of jubilation supposedly in response to the fall of a dictator have been staged” — Not the last at all. The faked Tripoli broadcast was produced by none other than White House Goebbels Benjamin Rhodes, puerile spinmeister, younger, more stupid brother of major network exec, who then went on in cahoots with AJ to broadcast ‘The Flight of Assad!’ into Damascus claiming Bashar and entourage were fleeing towards the airport, while Amerika jammed Syria’s satellite. But Damascus TV got wind, warned the public not to be fooled by the psy-war.… Read more »

AL JAZEERA AND NATO PLANNING A MAJOR SCAM AND MASSACRE EVER 1. According to reports from reliable sources, the fake scenery of Tripoli is erected in Qatar, in particular Bab al-Aziz and Green Square. Losing, coalition is preparing a grand spectacle. It prepares to destroy the remaining radio and television transmitters in Libya and block Libyan TV on the Internet to suppress truthful information. At the same time, the U.S. sends more drones. Those who control the global media and the NATO bloc, are apparently convinced that they were able to deceive everyone and impose their vision of the war… Read more »

Too much whining and too many posts from you jihadi.

You are trying to hard……………to prevent the Isil/AL Nusra terrorists on the ground from finding out what is really happening.

You are worried more jihadis will want to leave Syria and return to where they came from.

Your leaders execute anyone [jihadi] that says they want to return home.

The end game for the terrorists and their paymasters is rapidly approaching.

The “Syrian meat grinder” is still processing Jihadi meat. Gullible fools recruited by the Cia, Mi6, Mossad for their masters the London and Paris bankers. Those Jihadi’s no longer want to fight. They are entering the battle grounds of Syria as newbies in PuGs (pickup group) with LEAD IN THEIR SHOES. They have the same low moral as those in WOW that see on the battle ground LOADING screen they are up to a pre-made raid. Israeli Neutron Bomb Yemen
A video received from Yemen, believed to be taken May 20, 2015, of an explosion, when analyzed by nuclear weapons experts is, by very high probability, a neutron bomb that could only have been an Israeli attack. The analysis: A. Its not a conventional 2k lb bomb. It’s much bigger. B. Its either a very large MOAB bigger than 4,000 lbs. or; ???? Max weight for an F-15 / 16 is about 2,000 lb payload per bomb rack making the deployment of a MOAB impossible. C. Its appears to be a small neutron bomb. The size, color, lightning effect and… Read more »

I do not know who controls Palmyra today or who will control it next week, but I do know that I am glad the SAA does not have the paper milk toast nerves of some of the despairing writers on this blog. Look people, this is war. The enemy has been financed, armed, trained and supported by the most accomplished intelligence services in the world and backed even further by NATO governments with other assets. In the case of the Turks this includes their own armed forces regulars. Against this vast conspiracy, Syria through the SAAF, SAA and NDF have… Read more »

No FHTEX, what it shows is 3 guys there with the rest of the civilians and two dead soldiers, as i said above, an older guy from Tadmur was being interviewed, and he clearly said there were some citizens there who were helping them locate where the army was and where to go, so i say level the whole place and save the ruins.

Do not do it people. This is an ENTRAPMENT post. Americans have been convicted to long sentences just for going through such documents. FBI lure!!! Entrapment lure!!! You are a “doomed spy”. Sun Tzu the Art of War 7. Hence the use of spies, of whom there are five classes: (1) Local spies; (2) inward spies; (3) converted spies; (4) doomed spies; (5) surviving spies. 8. When these five kinds of spy are all at work, none can discover the secret system. This is called “divine manipulation of the threads.” It is the sovereign’s most precious faculty. 9. Having local… Read more »

In WW2 the British send 500-1000 Dutch brave citizens as DOOMED spies to The Netherlands. To fool the Germans in thinking a landing during D-day would happen somewhere else. These Dutch citizens were ALL betrayed by the British, apprehended vastly after going at land or landing with a parachute, and shot by the Germans.

The British betrayed them through their INWARD spies with the Germans.

I can’t help but believe the SAA’s withdrawal from Palmyra is a political tactical move intended to bring to attention the hypocrisy and double standards of the west, and perhaps place some pressure on the U.S. and the west to change their strategy in dealing with Syria. By abandoning a world treasure like Palmyra, I think Syria is capitalizing on Palmyra historical significance to world civilization in order to generate decisive action from the world community to end this madness. News out of Moscow today reveals the U.S. is finally acknowledging there is no alternative to Bashar to lead Syria.… Read more »
